Let's Get it Started

Starcraft

This article is dedicated to exploring advanced strategies in a computer game known as Starcraft. If you have never heard of it, you can read here. Without further ado, the following are three key tactics:

1: Cascading Recalls

Arbiter

Arbiters use a spell known as "Recall" to instantly transport units into an enemy base. Usually the units are then left there until the opponent rallies forces to eliminate them.

But what if multiple recalls were used on the same units? The arbiter recalls them into an enemy base, and then, before the response force is fully mustered, a second Arbiter recalls those same units from the base they just infiltrated into a second enemy base. And before that second base can be properly defended, a third Arbiter recalls yet one more time, ad infinitum.

The invading army would be repeatedly recalled from one base to another, preserving the units, and allowing them to inflict maximum damage.

2: Plague Drops

DefilerLurkerOverlord

You may have heard of "Storm Drops" when a High Templar is transported behind enemy lines to cast the "Psionic Storm" spell to destroy workers. But have you heard of a "Plague Drop"?

It is the Zerg faction's version of the same strategy. In a Plague Drop, an Overlord transports a Defiler and a Lurker to the mineral line of an opponent, where the Defiler promptly casts the "Plague" spell, weakening the workers.

The Lurker then burrows into the ground, and destroys the weakened worker units in a matter of seconds. By the time the opponent can react, their economy has been left in ruins, and they must completely rebuild their workforce.

3: Siege Tank Leapfrogging

Siege TankValkyrieWraith

For this tactic, all that is needed in an army of Siege Tanks protected by air support units. One can use either Valkyries or Wraiths, or some combination of the two.

There are two groups of Siege Tanks employed. The group in the front is unsieged, whereas the group in the rear is sieged. Then the unsieged tanks in front siege, while the tanks in the rear unsiege and move forward. All the while air-to-air units protect the army from above.

Why does this strategy work? The uniseged tanks in the front provide support against melee units, while those in the rear provide support against ranged units, and the air support destroys any air units that threaten the group.

That covers the three advanced Starcraft strategies hereby outlined. Have a great day.
